jarrett

You can pick your friends,
You can pick your nose
and you CAN pick your friend's nose . . .
especially if he's four!

laura's visit #1

My sis came down today to go to a friend's Bachelorette Party this weekend. We have been quite the nerds and are playing on the computer. (We did however go to eat and try to find a Wii Fit. Most, ok all, of the time was spent in the car driving to and from different stores. If you have found a Wii Fit I would love some advice.) She showed me how to add a playlist to my blog. I thought some tunes would be nice to listen to as you read. . . Then, my computer crashed. I'm blaming it on her (little does she know it does this frequently since it runs on Windows Vista). Enjoy and sing along--I do. Make sure to use a microphone, fists or pens work nicely.

Quote of the night: (from the teenager working in the electronics section of Wal-Mart)
Sarah: "Do you have any Wii Fits?"
Clerk: "No"
Sarah: "Do you know when you will be getting more?"
Clerk: "No, we only get them when they send them to us."
Sarah: "Uh, ok, thanks."
Laura: "I don't think he realizes how stupid he sounded. It probably sounded better in his head."
Sarah: to self, "thank you Captain Obvious."

commuting

Most of you know I have a 30 mile one-way commute each day. Here are a few of my thoughts from the many miles I travel and wish I had a camera at times (but sometimes I can't even talk on my cell and drive so just keep dreaming).

1. DO NOT DRIVE IN THE FAR LEFT LANE IF YOU ARE GOING SLOWER THAN THE SPEED LIMIT.

2. DO NOT DRIVE IN THE LEFT LANE FOR YOUR ENTIRE TRIP. THE RIGHT LANE IS FOR DRIVING, THE LEFT IS FOR PASSING. THIS MEANS, IF PEOPLE ARE PASSING YOU ON THE RIGHT, MOVE OVER!!!

3. How does one keep a cigarette from blowing out of one's hand while on a motorcycle?

4. Helmets? (for those on 2 wheeled vehicles)

5. Why doesn't that guy take off his tie before getting on his motorcycle. I'm sure a tie flapping in the face isn't pleasant.

6. Why do the road crews decide 5pm would be a good time to re-paint the lines on South 169? Haven't they heard about rush hour?

7. If your windows aren't tinted, and even if they are, I can see you picking your nose. You can't hide.

8. Buckle your kids up. Really.

9. How many people ARE NOT talking on their cell phones while driving. Just count someday, it's amazing.

10. If you are going to be a jerk while driving, please don't put an ichthus on your car or anything that might give us all a bad name.

Those are just a few thoughts. I'm sure I'll think of more.

Quote of the day: "Don't you really have to give me an antibiotic shot? B12 shots usually do the trick for me."

My response: "No, I wouldn't mention an antibiotic shot if I didn't think you needed one and a B12 shot will NOT do the same thing."

I've been tagged, i guess

This is a fun little game that bloggers play, so I guess being tagged officially makes me a blogger! The rules are as follows:
1. Post the rules!
2. Answer the questions about yourself
3. At the end of the post, list 5-6 people you would like to tag and leave a comment on their blog letting them know.

4. Let the person who tagged you know that you posted your answers.
So here goes....
1. What were you doing 10 years ago? Summer of 1998. . . working for a lawyer in Bartlesville. Worst job ever. Eating a lot of Peanut Butter M&Ms because all I did all day was type and answer the phone. THE reason I didn't go to law school. Funny story, while walking to work one morning wearing a wrap skirt, I felt a breeze up the back. Finally got to the office and realized my skirt was up around my waist. Nice, walking through downtown B'ville with my hind end exposed!
2. What are 5 things on your To-Do list today? Be patient with the new office staff, stay on Weight Watchers, finish notes, get to bed at a decent hour, and water my plants.
3. What are some snacks you enjoy? Nilla Wafers, Cheetos, Oreos, celery and peanut butter with raisins---frogs on a log, peaches in the summer all juicy, cashews, and Sonic ice with any beverage (I'm learning to like Diet sodas).
4. What would you do if you were a billionaire? Pay off Student Loans, Car Loan, Mortgage and my credit card. Then I would give money to my friends and family. Invest most of it. And start a Scholarship Program. Oh, and tithe.
5. What are 3 of your bad habits? Only 3? Ok, impatience and flying off the handle--witnessed last week when my doc was on vacation and I was incredibly busy, eating when not hungry, and laziness.
6. What are 5 places you have lived? St. Charles, MO Tulsa, OK Bartlesville, OK Oklahoma City, OK Norman, OK Springfield, MO Bixby, OK
7. What are 5 jobs you have had? babysitter, optometric assistant, student, medical assistant and PA
8. What is currently playing on your IPOD? I downloaded the new One Republic album--and David Crowder is a favorite when mowing.
9. What are the last 5-6 books you have read? I am really bad about reading books not related to the medical field. Laura loaned me some Emily Giffin books--I read Something Blue--and I finished it in one day. That's my problem, I can't put books down when I start. With nothing good on tv I SHOULD read more--I'd take any and all suggestions. Oh the Bible, although I am reading it--haven't finished it yet.
10. I've tagged:

summer 'do

The dogs went to the groomer's yesterday and got a summer 'do. I was having such a hard time keeping their coats non-matted. I was really embarrassed knowing the groomer would think I'm such a bad pet parent. I really try hard but having the dogs in and out in the rain/mud all day really does makes their cuts hard to keep up with. Plus Bentley, the black dog, has such a time with the 100+ heat and poor Bella is getting such a heavy coat. So, they got shaved.

Mom and Dad brought them home yesterday and I laughed as they ran inside!! They look like really big rats. Bentley was acting a bit off and Mom said he was embarrassed because he didn't have any hair. I don't think dogs have a sense of embarrassment.

Just thought I'd share the laugh. It'll grow back, right??

st louis

My 'little' sister turned 28 last Friday. I left work early and flew up to spend the weekend with her. We were going to go see the new Sex in the City movie, but were just a little too busy to make it there.

I got to meet Samuel Glasser--pics on her blog. He found my shirt amazing. Then we ate some fabulous pizza at Dewey's, rented the new National Treasure 2 (quite good) which I fell asleep during.

On Saturday, Laura and I went shopping, DUH! We got some accessories for her house. Their house is so cute--I'm amazed at what they've done. We went to eat at Cunneto's--best Italian food ever. We also went to a comedy club--a first for me. There were some really funny comedians! I'm still giggling.

Then I came home Sunday. I guess they had some really bad storms Sunday morning. With all the rain we've had my backyard is a swamp. So, I got to bathe two dogs Sunday evening. I bathed Bentley first and then Bella. Then I went looking for Bentley so I could dry them. I couldn't find him anywhere!! I thought he had learned how to open doors. Then I found him, in my pillows because 1) he didn't want to get bathed again or 2) he was cold. Bella was jealous and had to get in the picture as well. I think it's quite cute.
