lampshade

Have I mentioned my mother's great taste and talent of decorating? Some of it rubbed off on me. Except the sewing. She's amazing. She's made all my draperies. Took 3 years, but they're made. She's even passed her love of organization on to me: The Binder.

Laura and I used to roll our eyes at the binder. Each room has it's own section. Grid paper with the room's dimensions, paint samples, fabric samples, and pictures. Lots of pictures. Now I have one. Ok, I've had 3 in the past 3 years. All very helpful when out shopping. To match colors. For artwork. You name it, we've got the match. Wondering if that pillow will clash? No problem, get the Binder. Laura and I made many runs back to the car to get the Binder.

So, when a lampshade disintegrated, I needed help finding a new one. I looked all over Tulsa. I've carried the lampshade in the car for months. No luck. I didn't think this would be such a hard task. So I asked the help of my mother. She found this shade at home and told me to try it:

I'm thinking, just a bit big. After a hard past few weeks, I needed a smile. I laughed out loud when I put it on. It reminded me of a toadstool. The picture really doesn't do it justice. Oh well, the search goes on! Thanks for the thought, Sus.

green dragon soccer take 1

Enjoy!

green dragons, and more

Saturday, Jarrett asked if I was going to come watch his soccer game. Then asked if Bella and Bentley were coming. I think that's who he really wanted to come.

Let me just say soccer with 4 year olds is hilarious!! I have a video I will try to get uploaded, but they sure take awhile.

They run the width of the field and divide the teams into 3-on-3. The other team has played more games so they would score, and score, and score again. But sometimes, they ran to the other half of the field to use that goal because that was the goal they were using last quarter.

Then sweet Jarrett. He would kick the ball in the goal again after the other team scored. He was not very happy. Poor guy. He'll get the hang of it, they all will. But until then, it sure does make you laugh.

Feeling down about yourself? Catch a Green Dragon game. . . it could be their new slogan.

And Friday I took a "Mental Health Day." It's something my mother came up with working as a counselor at BHS. I really needed one Friday. I think we all need one somedays. My manager laughed when I told her I wasn't coming in due to my MHD. (by the way, the Hindmans came to T-town on friday and spent part of the evening at ChuckECheese. How much fun is skee ball? Do they sell home units? I need one. good stress reliever.)

But I wouldn't have done it Friday if I would have known how my Monday would end up.

#1) Rescuing a nurse who was almost flattened by a patient fainting on her, after hearing

"Sarah. . . Here . . . . Now!"

#2) Or after my next patient yells out the room, "I need help . . . . " and having to get him to Tulsa by calling 911 and EMS.

What a day!! I kept reminding myself, "the Lord doesn't give me more than I can handle." He must've thought a lot about me today. . .

And even more exciting news, they are building a Dave and Buster's in Tulsa!! Woo Hoo!! I love it ChuckECheese for adults. (and skee ball) Now I can get married. I've always thought how fabulous it would be to have rehearsal dinner at a Dave and Buster's. That's what I've been waiting for. . . . or maybe set the bar lower. . . a birthday party?

And more exciting news, Grey's starts this week!! Woo Hoo #2!! (not Woo Hoo poop just the 2nd time I said Woo Hoo. Just so you're not confused) I love when all the shows start back up in the fall. NO MORE RERUNS!!!

And sorry for the brain 'diarrhea', lots of info on the brain. . . . . . some call it ADD. I call it brain multi-tasking. Lots of ideas, only one way out.

why?

Why is it when you strive after Jesus that horrible things start happening in your life? I know it's Satan but it really bugs me. And I know all about trials and James. I just get tired . . . . . how I long for home.

David A

David Cook

Then my camera died. Sorry I didn't get all the song Lou.

american idol

Last Saturday, Liz, Kylie and I went to the final stop on the American Idol Live Tour--the Tulsa BOK Center. We had a blast!

Here's the short rundown: got wet, ate, waited in long line of cars, got wet again, sat next to 2 really old people with ear plugs, sang along, found margaritas, sang along more, got wet again, sat in car again. read below for more details:

We decided the evening involved a meal (which one doesn't?) so we tried to make reservations at Olive Garden, knowing it was going to be crowded. They don't do that. Who doesn't take reservations anymore??

Well most of you in the Tulsa area know Saturday was wet. All day. Raining. Pouring. And I needed a new umbrella. (side note: The one I hade is from 1995 that I bought with my awesome Eddie Bauer backpack before my junior year of high school. Needless to say it had done it's duty.) So I left early to go get some new, working umbrellas at Walmart and then decided to go on to Utica Square. It was 3:45. There was already a line out the door of Olive Garden when I got there at 4:20pm. And they weren't all grey hairs. (Concert was at 7:00pm) CRAZY I thought. I parked and went ahead and got on the list. Everyone in the restaurant was going to the concert. I know this because they had a very small waiting area. That combined with rain calls for close quarters. People had driven from Wichita to come to this concert.

Dinner was fab. Our waitress named about 6 entrees when asked what was her favorite! Her choice was delicious. Plus appetizers, salad, breadsticks and dessert. (I love being on a diet--all I do is think about food)

Then we head downtown. I got lost. Sorry to disappoint but I did. I usually have a great sense of direction, this time it failed me. You know when you're running late and try a new way that doesn't work, that was me. I felt horrible. Then we get stuck in a line of cars. The police are letting all the walkers cross the street with all these cars waiting to get into the parking garage. But we did find a good spot on the 4th floor. Then got wet again getting to the BOK Center. And there's not alot of over hang to collapse the umbrella and get your purse unzipped to look for bombs.

Anyway, the concert was awesome. Liz got much better pics than me. (Thanks to her for the fab pics) Chikieze was ok. Thought he was going to cry though. Ramiele was not good. Just my opinion but not good. Kristy Lee Cook was ok. I'm just not a big country fan. Michael Johns was a bit odd. Grew a moustache, gross, and a bit odd. Thought he was either high or drunk. Again, my opinion.Carly did awesome!!

Brooke also did well. She sang Coldplay's Yellow. It was great. Then she sang this song we'd never heard and had us "snap it out." Wierd. She has great hair too. I'm always envious of people whose curls stay in.

Intermission--Liz and I found the margaritas. Not the best (kind of like the margaritas at the Cardinal game, Lou) But fun none the less. A friend told me they tasted like frozen beer, great description.

Jason Castro sang one of my favorites, I'll try to upload it. Kylie and I don't think he's back in college this fall. Just a guess.

Sayesha was awesome as well. She sang Umbrella. I was the only one sitting near us who was singing along. She cried too.

Then David A. A good showing, just not my fav. He did sing One Republic's Apologize. I'll try to upload that as well.

Then our man came out. Our David Cook. He's just great.

David Cook is still looking to meet me. We are definitely going to see David Cook in concert when he comes. I love him. Come if you want, the more the merrier. And we won't eat at Olive Garden. And hopefully won't be raining either. But I have some great umbrellas if it does. And a close parking garage--we'll park on the 1st level!

my favorite people

A couple weekends ago, Liz came down with Jer and Brad. I'm a bit behind on posts. We went to PF Chang's for dinner. Here are a few pics from the evening. Jer decided he needed to show me some 'moves.' (and everyone else eating around us--they just looked at us. bumps on a log) Brad decided the noodles needed a new home, up her nose. Liz and I were laughing too hard so she continued. . .

I love you guys!! Come visit me in "Bigs Feet" (Jer's version of Bixby)

Sooner Football

We love our Sooners!! . . . Wish you were there Laura and JT!!

work

I was bored last week so I took pictures at work. Just so you have a mental image of my work. Or you could come visit!

This is one of our work stations. We work in teams. It took awhile to get used to being on the phone and all the background noise. I love it now. Regina is on the left and Heather is on the right.
This is Mandee. She makes me laugh every day. Ask me about her telling another office to fax us some paper when we ran out. . .
I didn't get pictures of everybody but I will. (they really love when I bring my camera to work!)

wii fit

I got home last night and what was waiting for me on the porch . . .

my new Wii Fit!!!
I found one on Walmart.com but you had to order an accessory kit with it. I decided that would be better than spending double on amazon.com to only get the fit. So guess what I did last night??

Let's just say I'm out of shape and really old on their Wii Test. I'll get better.

My favorite was running and passing the pace Mii--who you're not suppose to pass--and tripping and falling. Funny stuff!!!

Come over and play with me!!!!

a long weekend

I spent the weekend in B'ville with the parents this past weekend. I love being able to sleep in past 6:30 when Bella thinks it's time to eat. Dad gets up early with the dogs--thanks Pops!

We left in plenty of time for the 1st Sooner game of the Fall. We were so excited but a little worried since we were playing a 'no-name' team. It started out really hot. We sweated a lot. Some old high school friends have seats behind us so it was fun to catch up.

I asked Mom and Dad if I could get a picture. Mom said another time when she hadn't sweated so much. Little did we know we would look much worse after the downpour. We left at half-time when it was 50-0. Got about 1/2 way to the car when the sky opened up. I'm talking drenched.

Then Sunday I was watching the movie Thomas Crown Affair and asked Mom if she thought she could cut my hair to look like the lady's hair. My mom is so talented. She did great. (Although my hair isn't red.) (And thank St John for the N-I-C-E scrubs and Heather for taking lots of pictures 'til we got just the right one)

Bella, Bentley and I also got to spend some time with J and B. B kept saying, "Nice" to Bella. It's always good to be reminded of how we should act.

Hope you all had a great weekend too!
