The Name and Foreign Objects in Ears

So, you're probably wondering how I came up with the Blog name. I get asked many times a day, "What do we call you?" My answer is always, "Just Sarah." So some people call me "That PA Sarah." One time I got yelled at by a nurse at JPH (short for Jane Phillips Hospital), "Hey you, PA." Needless to say, that was not a very nice way to be greeted. I have a name, it's Sarah. I don't even asked to be called Ms. Schmidt. It's Sarah.

I'm getting quite witty about my answers now:
"Oh, just call me Pretty"
"Miss America"
"HRH" (Short for Her Royal Highness)

Some people call me Dr. Sarah--but that's not what I am. I am not a doctor. Nor will I ever be a doctor. That's another question I get asked frequently, "When do you become a doctor?" I got so tired of answering that question that I made a brochure to have in the rooms. Maybe I'll add that here to answer all your burning questions about the PA profession.

Any suggestions for my name would be appreciated!

Question to the 3 year old patient last week:
"What did you put in your ear?"
"A rock."
"This doesn't look like a rock unless you have lemon-lime rocks in your backyard."

It ended up being a bead. We got it out by irrigating her ear with water. Note: Beads are very hard to grab on to. I just kept pushing it farther in her ear. So we relied on the syringe and warm water.

Which reminds me, ask Laura about the Lite Brite she put up her nose when she was 3. Or Mom, she loved that day!! And I got blamed for it--older siblings always get blamed.

I put a tictac up my nose when I was little. I don't remember it but my mom had to take me to the ER...but by the time I got back there to be seen I think it had started to melt...they say it burned really badly! ;)
